LIVE CHAT - Kevin Kilner

Chat transcript from 05-04-02 (Content edited for readability)

KEVIN KILNER: Hello everyone! I hope your having a wonderful Saturday!

JStreet asks: Hi Kevin! You are the coolest on EFC! I just wanted to ask, there was a scene where you were talking with Da'an (Leni) and Sandoval (Von) had just walked off scene away from the cameras, and you suddenly start laughing, did Von moon you? That was totally goofy!

KEVIN KILNER: No, but I always dreamed of that... but only in my dreams. I can say this... Von always did try and crack me up... and I would do the same. It was a little game we played.

Roel asks: Hi Kevin, do you know we have only watched S1 here in Italy? You are the ONE again, here. When I discovered you where dead I had a tremendous shock...I think I never get out of that. My question is: How do you feel about S1, the wonderful Da'an/Boone relationship and all, after acting in S5?

KEVIN KILNER: Roel, Of course I will always feel that the first year of earth was the best year.... but I'm completely prejudice. The relationships were complex and multifaceted. The endings of the episodes were often times ambiguous.... leaving you with the desire you wanted to know more... a mystery had to be figured out later. Just to let you all know EWR is typing for me!! Blame him for the bad spelling.

Ryuuri-chan asks: Thank you for chatting with us. Do you like other Sci-fi shows and if so which one?

KEVIN KILNER: Ryuuri, Well, I'm partial to the reruns of STAR TREK the original series and TNG. I'm a huge fan of Blade Runner, Outlander and all the Alien movies

Tyco asks: Kevin, can you tell us about your current projects? Anything we get to see on TV sometime soon? Also, of all the leading ladies you've starred with, who was your favorite, and why?

KEVIN KILNER: Tyco, I'm waiting to hear on a pilot I shot called "Paranormal Girl". I should hear back on May 14th. As far as seeing something on TV soon... I just finished a small role in Paul Schrader film called "Auto-focus" about Bob Cranes' life. He was bludgeon to death and an alcoholic. I'm playing Clayton Moore who's being interview by Bob Hogan at the beginning of the movie.
I would do a Sci-Fi series again in a second! I love Sci-Fi!!
My favorite leading lady is... well, there were many favorites... Kim Delaney.... Nancy Travis. I was on Broadway in Glass Menagerie with Calista Flockhart

Barbara asks: Kevin, Did you and Majel foresee the Atavus storyline when you first started?

KEVIN KILNER: Barbara, I was told that there was another species that would be hunting the Taelons... I was not told the name... The Answer is YES, but I did not know everything.

Roel asks: Please, Kevin: what do you think NOW of Boone/Da'an relationship in S1?

KEVIN KILNER: Roel, I now realize how subtle, not only the writing was but particularly Leni's acting. She could do more with a look in her eye or a gesture in her hand than most actors can with their whole body.

Barbara asks: oh she's fantastic the grace !!!

KEVIN KILNER: I love Leni... she's a brilliant actor.

Kristi asks: Hi! Thank you for chatting with us. I was wondering what was it like acting with all of the other actors during season 1 of EFC?

KEVIN KILNER: Kristi, We had a great deal of fun... worked very hard... got to be friends off the set... and still stay in touch.

ihtan asks: Ok. An EFC question. Mr. Kilner, in your opinion, why did Zo'or keep Boone in stasis, instead of killing him?

KEVIN KILNER: ihtan, just in case they wanted me to come back. LOL

Lili_Marquette asks: hey Kevin did you have fun staring in American Pie Two laughing.

KEVIN KILNER: Lili Marquette, I had great fun in American Pie 2.. JB Rogers, the director, is an old friend.

Lili_Marquette asks: really Cool

KEVIN KILNER: I hope there's an American Pie 3 and that they see me as the funniest father next to Eugene Levi.

JStreet asks: Hey Kevin, how did you feel about being called back for season 5 and will you continue to watch till the end of season 5 to find out how it turns out? did you get to meet Robert Leeshock?

KEVIN KILNER: Jstreet, well I've met Robert before. He's a real nice guy. I was really happy to come back in the episodes in Season 5. But was disappoint not to come back for the Final episode. I'm not around on Saturdays to watch the show.

JStreet asks: yeah, I was real disappointed to hear you wouldn't be back for the finale. too bad.

Lili_Marquette asks: how about Sundays?

KEVIN KILNER: Sundays' I'm not around either. LOL

Kaitlin asks: Kevin - Thanks for being here with us today!! Just curious: how did you get those scars on your upper lip? They were quite evident in a lot of S1 episodes...

KEVIN KILNER: Kaitlin, I got them playing La Crosse in College... Form too many body-checks. And my helmet bar splitting my lip b/c I could never wear my chinstrap on my chin. My helmet was always loose.... my chins to big!!

Renay asks: Personally, what was your favorite EFC episode and why?

KEVIN KILNER: Renay, my personal favorite was probably "DECISION" because it was tough to do and very emotional. One of my favorites that I wasn't in much was "SANDOVAL'S RUN". I thought Von Flores was brilliant.

Mindix asks: Hai Kevin first I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday. And now my question. Do you decide where or when you go to conventions or does the studio decide. And will you ever come to Utopia in Scheveningen (the Netherlands)

KEVIN KILNER: Mindix, I have never done conventions but I just committed to doing my first in Las Vegas in September.... and I look forward to meeting the fans for the first time. I would be happy to come to Europe to do conventions. People just have to ask. You know I'm with Lolita Fajito, Armin Shimmerman's PR person. I've been to Bermuda and I love it. If you would like to invite me to a Convention please send your invitation to Eugene at Roddenberry.com - lincoln@roddenberry.com

Maya asks: Hey Kevin, cool that you are chatting with us tonight , well, I am sure you've been ask this a lot , but who did it personally felt for you to come back to Toronto to do the season 5 eps .. after not seeing all the other actors for so long?

KEVIN KILNER: Maya, It felt great.... I missed them.... and I missed a lot of the Crew and it was a treat seeing them, as well as Paul Gertz.

Lex asks: Kevin, do you feel that EFC represented the Roddenberry philosophies? Besides season one being the best (because you were there) do you feel it was the best representation of those philosophies as many fans do?

KEVIN KILNER: Lex, Absolutely 100% correct! Season 1 came the closest to Gene Roddenberry's Vision. Morally and psychologically complex with Ambiguous endings people could interpret for themselves. The great thing about Gene's vision is he made people Feel AND Think!

Hella asks: Hello again, Kevin! And a special hello from all Russian fans! Ok, the question? was it difficult for you to work with almost a totally new cast? Or did Von help you with that? :)

KEVIN KILNER: Hella, Von use to help me out with all the women! LOL and the new actors we're all terrific. They were really fantastic.

Tyco asks: Have you ever considered playing the bad guy? Sort of a character typical of say one that Sean Bean has done? Why or why not? Also, I saw the pic of the American Pie 2 opening & thought you looked cool with a beard. Still have it? :)

KEVIN KILNER: Tyco, I didn't have a beard in American Pie 2, I was clean-shaven... I love playing a bad guy... and it think Sean Bean is a good Bad Guy. I would love to play any characters he's played. I'd like him to send me his money too!! LOL

Ryuuri-chan asks: What did you think of them cutting you in the shower in the first episode. Are you scheduled to go to any cons in Western Canada ?

KEVIN KILNER: I no longer have a beard. Ryuuri, I'm not scheduling for any conventions in western Canada but I'd love to return to Western Canada, which I think is beautiful. Regarding the shower scene.... I'm just glad the camera didn't pan any lower... or else I might have been embarrassed. LOL. The probably would have asked for some money back!!

Dayblaze asks: Out of vague curiosity...Who's your favorite comic book character?

KEVIN KILNER: Dayblaze, when I was a kid it was a tie between Sergeant Rock and Batman! But now it's SPIDERMAN!!

Irahl asks: I hear some people are working on alternate seasons, though they're a little short on budget. If they asked you to act in the alternate seasons of EFC even on a low pay, would you?

KEVIN KILNER: Irahl, I make all my decision base upon the quality of the writing... so I'd have to read the script first. If it's good, I'm happy to consider it.

Mike asks: Hi Kevin, its great to chat with you, I rushed home from out of town because I suddenly remembered the chat was today haha, I'm a huge fan, you were the greatest part of EFC, How do you feel about where the show has gone since season 1(the best season)? Also how do you feel about how they killed off Lili, with Renee just assuming she's dead? And how did you feel about how Boone reacted to Renee's assumption? I personally thought being since it was since in his mind it was like he just saw her yesterday he acted a bit unemotional. Kevin I'm sorry if my questions long, Its just that I have been thinking this over and kept adding to it

KEVIN KILNER: mike, I have to confess I didn't watch the show after I left... so I don‚t know how they killed Lili. Boone was awakened from being in stasis and was in shock. I had just woken up from a deep sleep.

Aramina asks: What actors on EFC would you like to work with again and why? And what would be your dream acting project? (I like the scars - adds character!)

KEVIN KILNER: Aramina, I would love to work with any of them!! I became close friends with Von Flores and Lisa Howard. My dream project... is to be the lead in a sci-fi show that wins the Emmy! Von, Lisa and I are going to do a remake of the Mod-Squad... Von want to be Link! Lili Marquette, well Julie White and I went on to do a play in NY called DINNER WITH FRIENDS and it won the Pulitzer Prize. Also... my real wife played my old high-school girlfriend... so I knew her intimately!

Kristi asks: Hi Kevin! I've seen 2 of the season 5 EFC episodes you were in - fantastic acting! Are there any more season 5 episodes you are in and what are their names?

KEVIN KILNER: Kristi, Unfortunately... No. I had hoped to be in the season finally... but they never called me to ask. And now it's done.

Kaitlin asks: Kevin - before I forget: Happy Birthday! ... I read somewhere that you're a cat lover. How many furries do you have at home? How did you get them? Did you adopt them or was it the other way around? :-)

KEVIN KILNER: Thank You Kristi. Katlin, Thank you for the Happy Birthday. My wife and I have 3 cats and they were all rescue.... 1 from a friend and 2 from a vet.

Major Kincaid asks: Happy Birthday Kevin, sorry I forgot to say it earlier

KEVIN KILNER: Thank You Major Kincaid!

Barbara asks: Kevin, Is that the Creation Convention that you will be going to in September? What day will you be there?

KEVIN KILNER: Barbara, I wouldn't let my cats anywhere near Von. His most certainly would try to seduce mine... with martinis and such. LOL Barbara, it is the Creation convention and I am in negotiation to be there the whole weekend but negotiations have not been completed.

Barbara asks: great...hope to see you there!

KEVIN KILNER: I hope to see you too Barbara.

M asks: I'm just curious, what attracted you to acting.

KEVIN KILNER: M, I thought is was something I could be good at and I wanted to try and live many lives in one life.

Enti asks: oh yes, um.. Mr. Kilner, are star wars and EFC the same in anyways? or are they completely different

KEVIN KILNER: Enti, They both take place off the planet... other than that I wont touch that question with a 10 foot pole.

me.....too asks: Mr. Kilner... I saw " DINNER WITH Friends" in Boston in the very packed WILBER theatre... If there is ever a movie done, would you play TOM once more in a New York minute? Also... I REALLY hope the book "REQUIEM FOR BOONE" becomes an EFC movie whether its made for TV or the theatres! You have a knack for playing characters that are very memorable!

KEVIN KILNER: Me....too, thank you Me Too! I loved doing "Dinner with Friends" and I loved Boston. A movie was done by HBO of DWF and it sucked BIG TIME! Didn't even come close to the play. If you have any more questions you can contact me via EWR. Email - lincoln@roddenberry.com

KEVIN KILNER: Tyco, some movie start bad, are written poorly... some movies get made badly... some movie are marketed badly... The only answer is to start writing your own movie and see them through from beginning to end. I have a lot of fun with Dom DeLuise doing the Braniacs.com

KEVIN KILNER: I want to thank everyone for chatting in.. it's been fun for me. I'll see you guys in Re-Runs on the Sci-Fi channel and in Las Vegas in September. Gotta go.
